LA Lakers: Annual Family Picnic

In October 2023, I was tasked to create Halloween-themed booth designs for the LA Lakers’ annual family picnic at UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo. My work integrates the LA Lakers brand with different activities held in multiple event tents.

The event hosts the LA Lakers players, their families, employees, and friends. Event footage featuring my work can be viewed in the first episode of Backstage Lakers 2022-23 Season, available to stream under a Spectrum SportsNet+ subscription.

  • Create designs that align with a fun, celebratory atmosphere for the LA Lakers’ annual family picnic, combining the excitement of the LA Lakers brand with a Halloween theme. The designs should engage and impress attendees, including LA Lakers players, their families, employees, and friends. Additionally, the artwork should demonstrate a commitment to sustainability by repurposing the previous year’s wooden booth headers.

    Deliverables:

    • QTY: 4 - Wooden Cutout Game Booth Headers (Repurposed Wood)

    • QTY: 8 - Wooden Cutout Game Booth Pillars/Sides

    • QTY: 11 - New Rectangular Activity Booth Headers

    • QTY: 2 - Mug-Making Station Signage

    • QTY: 1 - 360 Photo Booth Tension Frame Enclosure with Door

  • I approached this project by strategically combining brand and theme colors while ensuring the LA Lakers branding remained at the forefront. The combination of LA Lakers Purple and Gold with Halloween Pumpkin Orange, along with spooky iconography, created a vibrant, immersive atmosphere. This was further complemented by the purple carpet flooring laid out in the UCLA Health Training Center parking lot, tying everything together into a cohesive and engaging experience for the event.

  • The Halloween-themed booth designs helped create a fun and festive atmosphere that contributed to the success of the LA Lakers’ annual family picnic. By integrating the LA Lakers brand with Halloween elements, the designs resonated with attendees, including players, their families, employees, and friends.

The work was memorable enough to be featured in the first episode of Backstage Lakers 2022-23 Season, where event footage showcasing my designs was included, available for streaming on Spectrum SportsNet+. It was also featured on the LA Lakers’ official Instagram account.
